Have you done any craft projects using old clothing?
Dec 27th, 2008 Posted in sewing | 7 comments »My girlfriend has done craft projects like she has on her blog here http://craftingagreenworld.com/2008/05/23/girl-reconstructed-upcycling-old-clothes/#more-462 and I’ve been thrift store shopping for materials myself. I’ve never tried sewing anything in my life and thought it would be fun. Have you done anything similar or done any craft projects at all using old clothes?

Fun-raising Ideas? Would these Sell?. HELP? (PLEASE READ DETAILS!)?
Dec 26th, 2008 Posted in sewing | 3 comments »Hey Everyone!
I’m not sure if this is the right place to post this question but oh well…
I”m a Girl Scout (16 years old) working on my Gold Award (For those of you who don’t know: it’s a really big community service project) I want to fun-raise some money an have all procedees all go to California Coastal Horse Rescue ( Which is a non-profit organization that rescues neglected, abonandoned, and abused horse). But I’m not sure how.
I have some ideas (see below)
Sell Hand Painted T-shirts, Jackets, Sweatshirts with different Silhouettes of horses and other critters (like Dogs, cats, dragons etc. depending on where we set-up our booth and who is ordering) and maybe take oders from people at my school.
Maybe making No Sew Blanks and selling them
or Selling Dog toys ( like tug ropes at some agility shows that are held locally)
My only concern is the cost of all the supplies is once we are done reimbersing ourselves there won’t be any money left or if we charge too much and the items don’t sell…
or They don’t Sell at All…..
So here is my major question is would you buy a Hand paint sweat jacket with a silloutte of you favorite animal/pet for $25? ( I’ve been looking for blank Sweat jackets for about $10 but the cheapest i can find them is $20)
Here is an example of the Jacket NOT painted:
http://www.cheapestees.com/hanes-ladies-…
The painted design looks professional ( I’ve had several Adults ask how I painted a siloutte rearing horse on the back of my camp T-shirt because it look amazing) and the paints would be acrylic and perminent.
Would you Buy it???
Also next part my question:
Does anyone Have any other Funraising Ideas???
I’m not trying to have you guys do my project for me but i’ve hit a road blocker here and i need some fresh ideas and some reassurence/comments on my ideas!
Thank you SOOOO much everyone!!
Ps. Sorry for any spelling errors
Ok For the second Answer i Got the only problem is I’m earning my gold award so i’m suppose to be running an event/ fun-raising. etc. on my own and there are extremely strich rule when it comes to sponsoring and such. But thanks for in put!
Also do you guys think my hand painted Jacket/shirts would sell?

Can someone give me some interesting places where and on what to plant grass seeds ?
Dec 21st, 2008 Posted in sewing | one comment »Can anyone give me some interesting artistic ways in which I can use grass as an art form or just to plant it in other ways except on my lawn. I took a plastic Coke bottle, filled it with soil and threw in some grass seeds. Its now stands nice and tall inside the Coke bottel and overflows like hair where it exits the mouth of the bottle. Its fun to trim it because you can layer i like hair or cut it nice and short, its such an attractive feauture. I read somewhere that you can plant grass on a lava rock because the rocks so rich in nutrients that it grows extremely fast. A friend of mine took her silk stalkings, filled it with soil, threw in some grass seeds and made a knot at the end. She sewed 2 buttons on for the eyes and a big one for the mouth and it forms a little face with green hair which she can cut when it gets too long. So any people out there that have any other interesting ideas of what to do with grass except sowing it on a lawn, please let me know. Its a lotta fun !

What are some random crafts that you like to do?
Dec 20th, 2008 Posted in sewing | 8 comments »And when I say random, I mean RANDOM. lol
I love crafts and I have tried a few, including:
stained-glass making
knitting
macrame
crochet
sewing/reconstructions
baking
But I know that that is just the TIP of the iceberg.
What are some other random crafts that are fun to do?

Help decorating a three year old girls bedroom?
Dec 19th, 2008 Posted in sewing | 3 comments »My daughter will be coming back home in a few months. By the time she is here she will be almost three years old. I want to decorate her room but I am having trouble deciding what to do. We live in an apartment and cannot paint the walls or put up wall paper, so my options are some-what limited. I would like for it to be as colorful and fun as possible. But I really don’t know where to begin. If you know of any books or websites, please share. I can sew and such, I just need to know where to look for patterns and ideas.
Thanks much.

What do you think would be the most fun job?
Dec 17th, 2008 Posted in sewing | 2 comments »I am interested in each of these things. And yeah, I know. I’m all over the board.
But. I’d like to know what YOU would want to do for a living out of:
Dermatologist.
Cosmotologist.
Dental Hygienist.
Civil Engineer.
Seamstress or something to do with sewing!!
I’m a 21 year old female. I don’t have any college experience, but I plan to go. I just don’t know what for yet.
Just looking for your opinions. Something fun.
PS: I have a history, and a problem, with hating every single job I’ve had within the last year and a half. And within that time frame, I’ve also had beyond 10 different jobs for very short periods of times. Why? I can’t find something I like. And I can’t make myself get out of bed to do something I hate.

What is an easy and fun Christmas gift to make for about 5 friends?
Dec 8th, 2008 Posted in sewing | 14 comments »For Christmas I was thinking for my 5 closest friends to make a cute little gift.
Jewelry would be cool, but I’m not looking for the typical beads and string.
Something really crafty but not -a lot- of work.
My friends I would be making the gifts for are all girls and my age(middle school age).
Nothing like college or with magazines. Nothing including sewing.
I am open to a wide range of things to make.
Thanks for any ideas.
Not food ideas please.
Unless you have a recipe.
